Brow lift or Forehead lift is a fantastic procedure that rejuvenates the entire upper third of the face.
Most commonly, we perform an Endoscopic procedure known as a minimally invasive technique. During this procedure, three small incisions are made within the scalp. Through these openings, an illuminated four-millimeter endoscope is used. The muscles that create the scowling between the eyebrows are lessened and eliminated and the entire forehead is carefully released allowing it to appear more refreshed and in an elevated position.
Because skin is not removed in this procedure, fixation is required to hold the forehead in its new desired position during the healing process. Many techniques are used including the absorbable Endotines as well as temporary screw fixation, where small screws are used to hold the forehead into position during the healing process. They are then removed leaving virtually no visible scars.
After surgery, you may experience some numbness and discomfort around the incision. You can be prescribed medication to relieve the discomfort. If you are prone to headaches, we may give an additional local anesthetic during surgery as a preventive measure. There will be some swelling that may extend to the cheeks and eyes and should abate within 10 to 14 days. As the nerves begin to heal, the numbness may be replaced by itching.
