Do you feel self-conscious about your small behind, which is especially noticeable when in swimwear? It may bother you enough to research enhancements, and something you’ve heard of and are interested in is the Brazilian butt lift (BBL).
In the US, the average cost of a BBL is $7,264, and this is for the surgery alone. When you factor in all other costs, you may pay over $10,000, and you don’t have the budget for that.
You’re considering going down south for this procedure, but how much is a BBL in Mexico? In this article, we’ll discuss the answer to this question, as well as what factors impact pricing.
How Much Is a BBL in Mexico?
In general, you can expect the typical cost of a BBL in Mexico to be between $3,000 to $5,000. For pretty much all procedures in Mexico, patients enjoy a lower cost of between 50% to 80%.
Why is a BBL so much cheaper in Mexico? We answer this question in our blog post, but essentially, it boils down to lower:
- Costs for quality higher education
- Cost of living
- Salaries
Plus, there’s a strong medical tourism industry. When numerous surgeons have to compete, this drives the prices down while requiring them to maintain high standards in order to attract international patients.
Obviously, that’s quite a large range in price, and you might want to narrow things down more. Here are the factors you should be aware of that can impact your Brazilian butt lift cost.
City/Location
It’s true that surgery in Mexico is much cheaper than in the US, but the exact location you go to matters, too. Mexico is a huge country, and there are some parts where the BBL price can be much higher.
Generally speaking, popular destinations often have higher prices due to demand and the reputation of their clinics. Examples of cities here include:
- Tijuana
- Cancun
- Mexico City
- Guadalajara
On the other hand, border cities may have slightly lower prices since they have to compete heavily for medical tourists coming from the US.
The Surgeon’s Experience and Credentials
If you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience, they’ll tend to charge much more than others. In addition, those with international training or a strong portfolio of successful results typically have higher fees.
Now, we want to emphasize how crucial it is to prioritize credentials and safety over price. If you aren’t careful and don’t do your due diligence, then going with the cheapest surgeon can be costly in other ways.
Not only is there the potential for subpar results, but also, you’re likely putting your health or even life at risk. No low BBL Mexico cost is worth going through life-changing complications or losing your life, so think about other factors other than the price.
Facility Type
Some surgeons in Mexico may use accredited private hospitals or high-end clinics, both of which will charge significantly more than smaller or lesser-known surgical centers.
Another thing to consider is that often, facilities will offer full-service packages, which include:
- Surgery
- Post-op care
- Transportation
- Accommodations
The cost may seem more at first glance, but that’s only the upfront price. When you break everything down, there’s more value and convenience.
What’s Included
On that note, some quotes may seem cheaper, but don’t take them at face value. Clinics will tell you a low price to draw you in, but you’ll quickly realize that they’re actually more expensive than other places since the quote is for the bare minimum of services.
Some important costs you should look for are:
- Pre-op bloodwork
- Anesthesia
- Post-op garments
- Medications
- Follow-up visits
- Lymphatic massages
Again, packages may initially seem expensive. However, they may save you from unexpected expenses later, which means you’ll save money in the long run.
Extent of Liposuction
To add volume to your posterior, the surgeon must first extract fat from other parts of your body through liposuction. For example, they may perform liposuction on your abdomen, flanks, thighs, or arms.
The more areas that are treated, the higher the cost. Do note that some clinics may quote a base price for 1-2 areas, and then charge extra for each additional area. It’s best to do your research and request quotes to determine which pricing method works best for your budget.
Customization and Technique
There isn’t just one technique used for liposuction. For instance, there’s 360° liposuction (which removes fat from the entire midsection), high-definition liposuction, and MicroAire (power-assisted liposuction). These will all cost more, as surgeons who use advanced liposuction techniques for natural-looking fat transfer may charge premium fees.
Other Costs to Consider
We’re assuming that you don’t already live in Mexico, so that’s something significant to factor in. You have to get yourself to another country, plus stay there for up to two weeks, and there are multiple costs associated with your stay.
For a quick breakdown, here are the expenses you’ll have to consider:
- Flights (roundtrip)
- Hotel
- Transportation (clinic visits)
- Post-op care (massages, supplies, etc.)
- Companion fees (if someone stays with you)
Some destinations may be easier and cheaper to reach, so think about that too. For example, there are multiple daily international flights to Cancun, meaning you’ll have a broader range of flight choices that are more affordably priced.
Some clinics, such as ours at Dr Valdez, do offer “all-inclusive” BBL packages, and these include not only nursing care, but also hotel stays and even meals. Make sure to ask for all details when requesting quotes so you know exactly what you’re getting.
