DR. ARTURO VALDEZ — CANCUN
Am I a Good Candidate for Plastic Surgery in Cancun?
Are You a Surgical Candidate?
Dr. Valdez prioritizes patient safety above all else. To ensure the best outcomes, we only perform surgery on patients who meet specific health requirements. Review the criteria below to determine if you’re a good candidate.
You are likely a good candidate for surgery if you:
- Are nicotine-free — no cigarettes, vaping, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, or nicotine pouches
- Live free of recreational drug use
- Drink alcohol in moderation, if at all
- Are at a stable, healthy weight — your goal weight for surgery. A BMI of 27 is a widely used standard for plastic surgery. Every patient is unique, and if your BMI is under 30 you may still qualify. Patient selection in this category is carefully considered, and eligibility is based on your medical history and other factors.
- Have a healthy heart, with no history of heart attack, stroke, arrhythmia, or heart surgery
- Are free of diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2)
- Are free of autoimmune conditions (such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus) and are not taking immunosuppressant medications
- Are not managing multiple chronic conditions
- Are in good overall physical health
- Are open about any GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Saxenda, Rybelsus, etc.), whether you use them now or have in the past
No Cardiac History
A healthy heart is essential for safe surgery
No Cardiac History
A history of heart attack, stroke, arrhythmias, or heart surgery significantly increases anesthesia risks. A healthy cardiovascular system is essential for safe surgery and optimal recovery.
No Autoimmune Disorders
Certain autoimmune conditions affect surgical eligibility
No Autoimmune Disorders
Autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and others can significantly impair wound healing and increase surgical risk. Patients with autoimmune disorders or those taking immunosuppressant medications are not considered candidates.
Nicotine-Free
No smoking, vaping, or nicotine products of any kind
What This Means for You
Nicotine narrows blood vessels and slows healing, affecting both your safety and your results. Candidates must be fully nicotine-free, including vaping, chewing tobacco, and pouches. Please share your nicotine history openly at your consultation.
Healthy Weight
Be at a stable weight that you can maintain long-term
Why We Require This
You should be at a stable, healthy weight that you plan to maintain long-term. Surgery is not a weight-loss solution. If you're currently working toward a goal weight, please reach it before scheduling your procedure.
